Culinary Nutrition Cooking Class Schedule

Cindy Santa Ana, Nutritional Therapist, Integrative Nutrition Health Coach and Culinary Nutrition Expert, will be leading exciting and fun cooking classes this August through December.

You'll learn how to use food as medicine that also tastes amazing! Every recipe uses organic ingredients that are dairy-free, gluten-free and sourced locally. Vegetarian (V) as noted.

Classes are from 11:00am - 1:00pm; $60 per person, located at 100 Bowls of Soup, 279 Sunset Park Drive, Herndon VA 20170

2018 Class Schedule:

Sept. 15, Cooking Class for Kids, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm - Let's get kids excited about cooking (and eating) healthy foods! Kids will learn basic knife skills, how to make healthy snacks, granola bars, smoothies, and dips with lots of veggies! My daughter will be assisting in the class too as an Instructor! This will be hands-on, practical and fun! And, for a fun challenge, the last part of class the kids will make their own dessert or vegetable snack to be enjoyed by the class.

For ages 7-12. GF, DF, Soy-Free and very low sugar. Some seeds will be used to make the granola bars - please advise of any food allergies before registration. $60 per child, space is limited to 12. (Parents can attend & participate for free.) GF, DF, peanut-free and low in sugar. Located at 100 Bowls of Soup.




Fall Classes:

August 25 - Supplement & Natural Healing MasterClass - Supplementation is a billion dollar industry! Done correctly, taking supplements can help improve vitamin and mineral levels, correct digestive problems, improve hormone balance and so much more. But, done incorrectly and you can cause drug interactions and even allergic reactions or just waste your money on worthless items. Since supplements are not regulated by the FDA, the quality and efficacy can vary. I will show you how to source viable and effective supplements that can improve your health. We'll decipher labels, which versions of certain vitamins and minerals are assimilated best by the body and how and when to use them. Bring 1-2 bottles of a supplement you are not certain of and we'll go over it in class.

Areas of focus include:

Detailed profiles of major nutritional supplements.
Nutritional supplementation protocols for those on restrictive dietary programs.
The health conditions each supplement and food can improve and/or heal.
Protocols will include recommendations for usage and dosage, interrelationships and interactions with other nutrients, and prescription drug-contraindications. Participants will learn which drugs can deplete the body’s essential nutrients, which supplements can reduce drug side effects and contraindications of herbs and drugs. We chat about multi's, probiotics, magnesium, B's, enzyme therapy, adaptogens, herbs, mushrooms and blood sugar support.

BONUS: I'll chat about boosting your immunity with natural foods, like Elderberry Juice and Fire Cider and supplements to prevent winter colds and flu!

September 8 - A Day in the Life of an Anti-inflammatory Diet - Let's take back your health and lower inflammation using food as medicine. It's completely possible as I have done this and hundreds of my clients have as well. You'll learn how to shop, source and prepare a healthy breakfast, lunch and dinner that can quell inflammation in the body. Menu: Chia Pudding (2 ways), Lunch Bowl, Fish Stew, Strawberry & Lime Mousse


October 13 - Condiments, Dressings & Dips - Storebought condiments are filled with high fructose corn syrup, preservatives and loads of sodium and sugar. Learn how to make your favorite condiments like BBQ sauce, cashew cream cheese, basic salad dressing formulas and Honey Mustard. Plus, we'll make a legume-free, Zucchini hummus that everyone will love!


November 10 - Healthy Take-Out - I know it's super easy to make a call, place your order and have dinner delivered in 30 minutes, but you have no control over the ingredients, the inflammatory oils and the additives. I'll show you how to make your favorite take-out meals and we'll chat about what to order if you do order out. Menu to include Pad Thai, Maki Rolls, Grain-Free & Dairy-Free Pizza.


December 8 - Smoothie & Elixir Magic - Green smoothies are ok, but they're not really my jam. What is? Elixirs! These magical drinks have superpowers that can boost your immunity, energy and some even have cancer-fighting properties! I'll show you how I make my Winter Smoothie and a couple of warming elixirs that beat those expensive coffee shop concoctions any day!

Class Policies:
Classes are recommended for ages 12 and up.
Weather policy: If a class is canceled due to inclement weather, you will receive a full refund. If you find it unsafe to drive, your registration will go towards a future class.
You must cancel within 3 days of a class to receive a refund.
A minimum of six is required to run a class and a maximum of 14 is allowed.
Classes are mostly tastings and not full meals.
Please refrain from wearing perfume or any personal care product with fragrance.
Walnuts, cashews and almonds may be included in some classes. If you have specific allergies, please let me know before you register. NO peanuts will be used, however. All food is gluten- and dairy-free, low in sugar and mostly local and organic.
