Cooking Classes in Northern VA

Culinary Nutrition Cooking Class Schedule


Cindy Santa Ana, Certified Health Coach and Culinary Nutrition Expert, will be leading several cooking classes this winter.


You'll learn how to use food as medicine that also tastes amazing! Every recipe uses organic ingredients that are dairy-free, gluten-free and sourced locally. Some are Vegetarian (V) where noted.


Each class below is from 11:00am - 1:00pm; $60 each class, located at 100 Bowls of Soup, 279 Sunset Park Drive, Herndon VA 20170


Feb. 25      Healing Elixirs & Tonic Herbalism (V)

A cup of tea can be warming, but it can also provide nutritious, healing herbs and healthy fats to keep your brain humming and quell inflammation. Cindy will share how to effectively combine different herbs, medicinal mushrooms, spices and foods to create therapeutic elixirs and tonics.
Recipes include:
Lemon/Ginger Digestive Tonic, Anti-inflammatory Turmeric Liver Tonic, Immune-Boosting Fire Cider and an Energy-Boosting Raw Cacao Elixir. (Demonstration class with tastings, Vegetarian available, GF & DF) $60 pp

 

Mar. 4       Plantiful Eating 

Hands-on Class (V) – It’s almost spring and these raw plant foods will help you cleanse out any toxins and give you energy. This class is about learning how to incorporate more plant-based foods into meals. You’ll learn how to roll your own veggie sushi and make delicious spring rolls. You'll learn why it's important to add sea vegetables to your diet.
Recipes 
include:
Sweet Potato Arame Salad with Ginger Dressing, 5-Minute Miso Soup, Veggie Maki Rolls and Veggie Spring Rolls with Almond Dipping Sauce. (Vegetarian) $60 pp

100 Bowls of Soup Cooking Classes

Class Policies:
Classes are recommended for ages 12 and up.
Weather policy: If a class is canceled due to inclement weather, you will receive a full refund.
You must cancel within 3 days of a class to receive a refund.
A minimum of five is required to run a class and a maximum of 15 is allowed.
Classes are mostly tastings and not full meals.
Cashews and almonds are included in some classes. If you have specific allergies, please let me know before you register. NO peanuts will be used, however.

Basics of Fermentation
April 1, 12-2pm; $40 per person
Warrenton Wellness Kitchen

Learn the basics of fermented foods, why they're crucial in our diet and how to make them. We'll make kombucha and fermented veggies. Everyone goes home with their own special fermented project!

Class Policies:
Class is recommended for ages 12 and up.
If the class is canceled due to inclement weather, full refunds will be issued.
You must cancel within 3 days of a class for a refund to be issued.
Tastings are provided and you will go home with a mason jar of your own fermented vegetables.
Space is very limited, register early to grab your spot!
